Marion, Ind. - The Dickinson State University men's and women's track and field teams are excited to compete in this week's NAIA Outdoor National Track and Field Championships. The national meet will take place from Thursday through Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
 

The men of Hawk track enter nationals having finished in the top two the previous eight seasons. Dickinson State won national titles in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Dickinson State, the 2011 DAC Conference Men's Champions, will have 11 individuals competing in 15 events. DSU will also run the 4x100 meter relay. Six of DSU's women will compete in a total of seven events at the national championships.
 

Leading the charge for the Hawk men will be the 4x100 meter relay. Michael Sands (Sr., Nassau, Bahamas), Cordero Bonamy (Jr., Nassau, Bahamas), Jermaine Christie (Sr., Trelawny, Jamaica), Josh Neumiller (So., Glasgow, Mont.), and Kurt McCormack (Sr., Souris, PEI) make up DSU's sprint relay pool. Dickinson State is seeded fifth in the nation heading into the event with a season best time of 40.93 seconds.

Individually, Dickinson State will be driven by men in the jumping events. McCormack is ranked fifth heading into the triple jump and is seeded twelfth in the long jump. He will be joined in the jumps by Christie, John Paul Williams
(Fr., Daly City, Calif.), Johnny Emtman (Sr., Glasgow, Mont.) and Brady Sundheim (Fr., Sidney, Mont.).

Christie is ranked tenth in the long jump. He will also race the 110 meter high hurdles in which he is ranked tenth. Williams is ranked eighth in the pole vault and is the sixteenth seed in the decathlon. Emtman is the twelfth seed in the triple jump and the 23rd in the long jump. Sundheim is ranks 23rd among triple jumpers.

On the track, freshman and Dickinson native Nathan Magstadt is a double hurdle entrant. He is ranked eleventh in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles and fifteenth in the 110 meter high hurdles. He is joined by Ismael Arzola (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif.), Bonamy, and Sands on the oval. Arzola will run the 800 meter run and is ranked 17th. Bonamy is seeded nineteenth and Sands 23rd in the 100 meter dash.

Tyler Lalim (Fr., Tioga, N.D.) will throw the javelin for the Hawk men. He enters the meet seeded sixteenth.

DSU's women are also led by jumpers. Hailey Schaper (Fr., Killdeer, N.D.) is ranked third heading into the high jump. She is joined by Jennifer Hartman (Jr., Miles City, Mont.) who is seeded tenth in the triple jump and ranked seventeenth in the long jump.

Kim Schulz (So., Sidney, Mont.) will also chip in as a field eventer, competing in the javelin. She enters the competition ranked fourteenth.

Tina Marie Soto (Sr., Upland, Calif.) and Vanessa Esquivel (Jr., Ontario, Calif.) will run the marathon and enter the 26.2 mile race ranked 19th and 20th, respectively.

Kedeshia Simpson (Fr., Clarendon, Jamaica) will race in the 100 meter dash and is seeded 19th.
