Blue Hawks fall to Mayville, eliminated from tournament

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Dickinson State's season came to a close on Sunday (May 4) in the NAIA Unaffiliated North Star/Frontier Baseball Conference Tournament.  The fourth-seeded Blue Hawks fell to the two-seeded Comets, 8-1.  The Blue Hawks' final record is 12-40.

The Comets scored twice in the first inning, five times in the fifth, and once in the sixth. 

Sam Bisson drove in the only run for Dickinson State in the bottom of the ninth inning.  He plated Jordan Tescher and reached on an error by John Cahill.

Jordan Yussman was charged with the loss.  Over four innings Yussman allowed six runs (five earned) on four hits.  He struck out four hitters.  Ian Anderson threw two frames of scoreless relief.  Chas Allen also had a scoreless inning of relief.

Jake Coyle recorded a pair of hits. Tescher had a hit and a run scored.  Austin Taft notched a pair of hits.  Bisson had the lone RBI. 

The Blue Hawks will now look ahead and begin preparations for the 2015 season.
