VALLEY CITY, N.D. – After falling in their first game of the tournament on Friday (May 2) the Blue Hawks offense came back with a vengeance on Saturday (May 3).  Dickinson State (No. 5 seed) routed Presentation (No. 6 seed), 14-2.  Dickinson State is now 1-1 in the tournament and 11-39 overall.

The offense got started early for Dickinson State.  Jordan Tescher doubled homeJoe Binstock in the first inning to stake out a 1-0 lead, however the Saints would retaliate with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

The 1-1 tie would not last for long.  Binstock came to the plate with runners on second and third.  He singled through the left side to score Austin Taft, breaking the tie.  Jake Coylesingled through the left side as well to score Caleb Burgard from third.  Eric Contreras lofted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Binstock.  Tescher took a 0-1 offering from Presentation starter Ryan Baldonado over the center field fence, giving the Blue Hawks a 6-1 advantage.

Both offenses were quiet until Dickinson State broke the relative silence in the top of the fifth inning.  Taft hit into a fielder's choice to score Chris Mjelstad, who reached on a single.  A wild throw on the play allowed Eric Seiler to score.  Burgard singled back up the middle to score Taft.  Coyle later singled home Burgard to complete the four run inning and give the Blue Hawks a 10-1 lead.

Jake Bunjovac was rudely greeted in the top of the eighth inning by Binstock, who singled to center field.  He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.  Eric Contreras singled through the right side to plate Binstock.  A double by Mjelstad brought home pinch runner Miles O'Donnell.  Bunjovac was lifted after just a third of an inning for Kyle McLean.  McLean walked the first hitter he faced and then allowed a single to Taft, scoring both Tescher and Mjelstad.

Presentation added a run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the score to 14-2.
