BILLINGS, Mont. – The Blue Hawks dropped their doubleheader against Montana State University-Billings on Tuesday (Apr. 8). Billings took game one, 14-5, before taking game two 17-1. Dickinson State is now 5-29 on the season.
In game one the Jackets got on starter Chas Allen early. He was tapped for seven runs, on six hits, in two innings of work. The Jackets recorded three runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one in the sixth.
All five of the Blue Hawks' runs came in the fifth inning. Joe Binstock singled homeThad Lane. Eric Contreras then ripped an offering right over the bag at third to scoreCaleb Burgard, Binstock moved to third. Following a ground out, Jordan Tescher took an offering from Jordan Knell opposite field for a three-run homerun.
Binstock finished with a hit, a run scored, and a run driven in. Contreras had two hits and a run driven in, as well as a run scored. Tescher's notched two hits, scored once, and had three RBIs.
The Jackets offense was strong again in game two. They tallied five in the first, two in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two more in the sixth inning.
The Blue Hawks' run came on a solo dinger by Austin Taft in the top of the sixth inning.
Taft's solo homerun was one of two hits for the Blue Hawks. Ryan Risse had the other knock.
The Blue Hawks will be back on the field Saturday (Apr. 12) when they travel to Presentation College. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
