DSU Baseball Ends Opening Day with Split

MILES CITY, MT- The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Baseball team defeated the UM-Crookston Golden Eagles 3-2 ending opening day with a split.

The Blue Hawks put up three runs in the top of the first inning with back to back homeruns by Jacob Hignite and Landon Briscoe. The Golden Eagles answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning off a two run homerun. This would be the only scoring in the game as the Blue Hawks went on to win 3-2.

Eric Seiler pitched a complete game one-hitter, a first inning homerun after a walk, to lead the Blue Hawks to thier first victory of the 2015 season. Seiler also had three strikeouts and allowed to walks. 

The Blue Hawks were led offensively by Landon Briscoe who was 2-4 with a homerun, one RBI, and one run scored. Jacob Hignite was 1-4 with a homerun, two RBI, and one runs scored. Dylan Skabo, Jordan Tescher, Eric Seiler, and Ryan Mitchell each added a hit in the win.

The Blue Hawks take the field again Saturday against the Golden Eagles in a one- nine inning game begining at 1:00 pm (MST) due to cold weather. The Blue Hawks will finish the five game series with the Golden Eagles on Sunday with a double header begining at 11:00 am (MST).
