Blue Hawk Baseball adds Four more to 2016-17 Roster

DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Head Baseball Coach, Jason Watson, is pleased to announce the signing of four more players to join the Blue Hawks in 2016-17.

Dylan McDermott


McDermott is a 6'2" right handed pitcher from CSU-San Marcos. Dylan is from San Diego, CA and attended Mission Hills High School.

"I chose to sign with DSU because of their competitive program and great facilities as well as to continue my education," stated McDermott.

Dylan was a three time All- Academic team member and plans to major in Composite Social Science at Dickinson State University. He is the son of Joseph McDermott and Tiffany Badeaux.

"Dylan has great composure on the mound, is very competitive and will definitely help us on the bump for the next few years," said Watson.

Lucas Rissler


Rissler is a 6' first baseman and outfielder from Williston State College. Lucas attended Campbell County High School in Gillette, WY.

"There are three types of players, those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happened. I feel DSU has players that make it happen," stated Rissler.

Lucas was a member of the 2014 State Champion Gillette Roughriders Baseball team. He is the son of Denise Guy and George Rissler and plans to major in Criminal Justice at Dickinson State University.

"Lucas swings a great bat which will help us produce more runs next season and he has the ability to play infield and outfield," said Watson.

Alex Hlas-Ross


Alex is a 5'11" right handed pitcher and outfielder from Lethbridge College. Hlas-Ross attended Kate Andrews High School in Winnipeg, MB.

"After listening to Tyler Czech (former DSU baseball player) of his experiences at DSU, I knew it was the right school and baseball program for me," stated Alex.

Hlas-Ross was a member of the PBA All- Academic team in 2015 and plans to major is Physical Education at Dickinson State University. Alex is the son of Jeff and Eva.

"Alex has great command on the mound and can cover ground in the outfield. I feel that he has the ability to jump right in and earn am starting spot in the outfield," said Watson.

Brendan Martel


Brendan is a 6' infielder and outfielder from Mt. Boucherie Secondary in West Kelowna, BC. Martel is originally from Nelson, BC.

"I chose to sign with DSU because of Coach Watson, the city of Dickinson and the Business program," stated Martel.

Martel is a member of the Principal's Honor Roll and plans to major in Business at Dickinson State University. Brendan is the son of Laurent and Kathy Martel.

"Brendan has great pop in his bat and can play almost anywhere on the diamond," stated Watson.
