DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State University Head Football Coach Pete Stanton is pleased to announce the signing of Mitch Mehrer for the 2014-15 season.
Mehrer is a senior at Dickinson High School in Dickinson, N.D. In 2013 the 6-foot-2-inch defensive end was an All-WDA Football First Team selection, All-State Second Team selection, and he was selected to the 2014 Badlands Bowl North Dakota roster.
"We are very pleased to have Mitch join our football program," Stanton said. "He is an athletic player who is very hard working. Mitch is a player that we have targeted since the beginning of the recruiting process. We feel he has great potential at the collegiate level with his athleticism and pass rush ability. It is exciting for us to have a good person and a talented local player join our program."
Mehrer played as both an offensive and defensive lineman for Dickinson High. He recorded 35 tackles for the Midgets, including dragging the ball carrier down behind the line of scrimmage nine times. The nine tackles for loss resulted in a net loss of 65 yards for opponents. He also had two fumble recoveries and three sacks.
Mehrer is the son of Eldon and Rachel Mehrer.
