Blue Hawks reveal full recruiting class

DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State University is pleased to announce that 36 players will be joining the Blue Hawks for the 2014-15 football season.  The signees include 16 players from Montana, seven from North Dakota, four from California, three from Hawaii, two from Wyoming, and one player each from South Dakota and Virginia.

The class features 24 high school recruits and 12 transfers.

Bryce Wigert is a 5-foot-10, 250-pound, lineman from Anaconda, Mont.  Wigert was named to the all-conference team as both an offensive and defensive lineman in 2013, as well as being named an all-state wrestler.

Jalen Hendrickson hails from Medicine Lake, Mont. where he is currently a senior at Medicine Lake High School.  He was a two-way player for the Medicine Lake High football program, playing quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back.  Hendrickson was an All-Conference and All-State selection in 2013. 

Mitch Mehrer is a defensive end from Dickinson, N.D.  In 2013 the 6-foot-2 defensive end was an All-WDA Football First Team selection, all-state second team selection, and he was selected to the 2014 Badlands Bowl North Dakota roster.  

Trey Howard joins the Blue Hawks from Plentywood, Mont. where he was a first team All-Conference safety and a second team All-Conference quarterback in 2013.  He was also selected to the Montana Class B All-Star Game that will be played in June 2014. 

Devin Schwanz is a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive lineman from Plentywood, Mont.  He was a first team all-conference selection on offense, as well as a second team all-conference selection on defense.  Schwanz earned academic all-state honors in three separate years.

Jordan Walker will join Dickinson State from Baker High School in Baker, Mont. where he helped lead the football program to a state runner-up finish in 2013.  Walker also served as team captain and was named All-Conference in both 2012 and 2013.

Brady Wilz is an offensive lineman from Century High School in Bismarck, N.D.  Wilz was a consistent starter on Century's offense.

Dickinson High School senior Aaron Sayler is a 6-foot-2 lineman and was named to the all-state second team.  Sayler was also selected to the All-WDA First Team offensive line.

Logan Buettgenback is a 6-foot-2, 255-pound lineman from Glenrock, Wyo.  Buettgenback will provide versatility and depth to both front lines, according to Coach Stanton.

Jeff Fisher is a 6-foot-2 lineman from Baker, Mont.  Fisher was an all-state and all-conference selection on both offense and defense.  He was also selected to the Class B All-Star Game and helped lead Baker to the state "B" championship game. 

Dustin Irgens hails from Baker, Mont. and is a 5-foot-10 lineman.  Like Fisher, Irgens was an all-state selection on both sides of the ball and appeared in the Class B All-Star Game.  Alongside his teammate, Irgens helped lead baker to an appearance in the state B championship game.

Tommy Sease is a 6-foot-2 defensive end who started for three years at Bismarck High School.  He was named to the first team all-state twice (2012 and 2013) and was named first team all-conference twice (2012 and 2013).  Sease was named the Bismarck's Defensive Player of the Year and selected to play in the Montana vs. North Dakota Bowl Game in Dickinson in June.

Jamalcolm Liggins is a 6-foot-1 cornerback who was selected as an all-conference performer.  He was also an all-state track and field performer in the triple jump and long jump.  Liggins was selected to play in the Shrine Game.

Logan Wilcox of Lewiston, Mont. will be joining the Blue Hawks as a tight end and defensive end.  The 6-foot-5 all-state and all-conference selection was an alternate for the Shrine Game.  Wilcox also starts on the basketball team.

Willy Schwindt is another product of Dickinson High School.  Schwindt is a 5-foot-9 linebacker.

Steven Koch is a 6-foot-2 linebacker from Buffalo, S.D.  Koch earned two selections to the all-state roster and was named defensive MVP for Harding County.  He helped guide Harding County to multiple conference finals, including at state title in 2012.

Ben Herzog hails from Miles City, Mont. and is a 5-foot-11 quarterback and safety.  He was selected as an all-conference performer three times as safety and twice as a quarterback.  Herzog was named the Montana All-State Quarterback in 2013 and selected to play in the 2014 Montana Shrine Game, as well as the Badlands Bowl.

Braden Collins is a 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Absarokee, Mont. where he earned all-conference honors and was a Treasure State All-Star.  Collins is a three sport athlete.

Luke Schwagler is a wide receiver from Forsyth, Mont. where he a four-time all-conference selection and a three-time all-star.  Schwagler was selected to the 2014 Class B All-Star game and Montana Shrine game. 

Gage Adams is a 5-foot-10 tight end and linebacker from Forsyth, Mont.  Adams earned four selections to the all-conference team and was twice named to the all-state roster.

Black Schwagler is a 6-foot-2 three-time all-conference player from Forsyth, Mont.  He was selected as an all-state player in 2012 and named to the Class B All-Star game.  Schwagler was also named the KATL Eastern Montana Athlete of the Year in 2013.  

Oakley Ordahl will come to Dickinson State from Plentywood, Mont. where he was an all-conference linebacker at Plentywood High School. 

Dolan Taylor hails from Circle, Mont. where he was an all-conference selection and started on the basketball team. 

Kordell Cummins is a 6-foot-5 offensive lineman from Hardin, Mont.  Cummins was selected as an all-conference and all-state lineman in 2013.

JT Harper will join the Blue Hawks from Black Hills State.  He hails from Osage, Wyo. where he attended Newcastle High School.  Harper was twice selected to the all-state team and earned a Wyoming Super 25 selection.

Braden Ler is a 6-foot-4 tight end from Savage, Mont.  Ler will join Dickinson State from Carroll College.  A tri-sport athlete in high school, Ler was selected as an all-state player for football.

Seth Ewoniuk hails from Belfield, N.D. where he attended Heart River High School.  In 2013 Ewoniuk was honored as an All-State performer in track and field and named to the ND Shrine Game and Badlands Bowl.  He was also an All-State selection in 2012.  

Ryan Hardy is a 6-foot-2 transfer from Los Angeles Valley College.  The defensive lineman hails from Inglewood, Calif. and attended Culver City High School.

Zach Reiss joins the Blue Hawks from Dakota State.  The 5-foot-8 running back hails from Sheperd, Mont.

Wayne Carter is a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman from Newport News, Va.  Carter transferred to Dickinson State from Lane College. 

Guillermo Aguirre hails from King City, Calif. and joins Dickinson State from Monterey Peninsula College.  Aguirre will join the Blue Hawks defensive line.

Kelii Copp is a versatile offensive lineman from Mt. San Antonio College and will look to play on the interior of the offensive line.  Copp is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Jonathan McGinnis comes to Dickinson State from Mt. San Jacinto where he was used in multiple positions throughout the secondary. 

Joshua Perry-Kruse is a 5-foot-9 wide receiver from Kailua, Hawaii.  Perry-Kruse previously attended Mt. San Antonio College.

Awa Poggi is a 5-foot-8 defensive back from Waimanalo, Hawaii.  Poggi attended Mt. San Antonio College where he was used in a versatile role, playing both offense and defense. 

Kevin Boyd is a 5-foot-10 defensive back transferring in from Pierce College.  Boyd is originally from Simi Valley, Calif.

"We believe this is a very talented recruiting class," Head Coach Pete Stanton said.  "Every year we go out and try to sign the best players for our needs.  We have brought in a lot of talent and players that could have an immediate impact.  It is a very well-rounded group and we are thrilled for these guys and what they bring to Dickinson State."
