DICKINSON, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) released its 2014 Football Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Blue Hawks were picked third in the NSAA with 36 points and two first place votes.
Dickinson State was victorious in their only game against a NSAA opponent in 2013. The Blue Hawks defeated Jamestown 27-7. Quarterback Kayler Ray threw for 137 yards and a touchdown in the effort. Running back Jesse Carney tallied 111 yards on the ground and one touchdown.
Valley City was picked first in the conference with 43 points and three first place votes. Jamestown tallied 37 points, but the Jimmies were not selected to finish first in the conference by any voting member.
To earn an automatic bid into the NAIA Football Playoffs, a team must be in the Top 20 in the national poll and win the conference title.
