DICKINSON, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association released its 2014 Football Preseason All-Conference team on Tuesday (Aug. 19). Five Blue Hawks were selected as preseason all-conference.
Senior running back Jesse Carney tallied 806 yards on 200 carries in the Frontier Conference during the 2013 season. He rushed for a season high 152 yards, with three touchdowns, against Jamestown on October 5, 2013. The Kailua, Hawaii native broke the century mark for rushing yards in a game three times during the 2013 season. Carney also brought in 14 receptions on the year, good for second on the team.
Junior offensive lineman Kelii Copp also earned a preseason all-conference selection. The 6-foot-3 270-pound Kaneohe, Hawaii native looks to anchor the Blue Hawks line during the 2014 year.
Senior wide receiver JT Keith brought in a team leading 37 receptions and five touchdowns in 2013. The Miles City, Mont. native gained 656 offensive yards. His longest reception went for 88 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, senior defensive lineman Sam Herauf recorded 40 total tackles in 11 games during the 2013 campaign.
The final Blue Hawk to earn preseason all-conference honors was senior linebacker Alex Huitzil. The San Lucas, Calif. native finished fourth on the team with 59 total tackles. Huitzil notched 7.5 tackles for a loss, forcing opponents 37 yards in the wrong way.
Dickinson State will open the season on August 30, when Rocky Mountain heads to the Biesiot Activities Center. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
