Carney, Poggi Earn NSAA Players-of-the-Week Honors

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced the final NSAA Players-of-the-Week on Monday (Nov. 17).  Dickinson State running back Jesse Carney and safety Awa Poggi earned NSAA Players-of-the-Week honors.

Carney was named the NSAA Offensive Player-of-the-Week.  He rushed 19 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue Hawks' victory over Jamestown on Saturday (Nov. 15).  Both of Carney's touchdown runs came in the fourth quarter, breaking a 14-14 tie. 

Poggi was named the NSAA Defensive Player-of-the-Week.  He picked off two passes during Dickinson State's win.  The first interception came in the first quarter at the Blue Hawks' own nine-yard line.  Poggi ran his first interception back for 62 yards to the Jimmies' 29-yard line, which set up the Blue Hawks' first scoring drive.  He also added four tackles on the day.

Dickinson State concluded their season at 7-4 overall and 5-1 in North Star play.
