Five Blue Hawks Honored as Daktronics-NAIA Schloar-Athletes

DICKINSON, N.D. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes on Thursday (Dec. 18).  Dickinson State had five student-athletes honored for their academic achievement.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Shawn Alder is a senior defensive back from Colstrip, Montana.  In 2014, he had one interception and one pass breakup, along with 15 tackles.

Meyer Bohn is a senior offensive lineman from Bismarck, North Dakota.  Bohn earned second team all-conference for the 2014 season.

Hazer Burghduff is a senior tight end from Buffalo, South Dakota. 

Matt Perdue is a seinor linebacker from Ray, North Dakota.  In 2014, he totaled 35 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Kaler Ray is a junior quarterback from Glendale, Arizona.  In 2014, Ray threw for 1,277 yards and 11 touchdowns.  He also rushed for 591 yards and six touchdowns.

There were 319 student-athletes selected for the honor.
