Blue Hawks Announce 2015 Recruiting Class

DICKINSON, N.D. – Dickinson State Head Football Coach Pete Stanton is pleased to announce the 2015 Blue Hawk football recruiting class.

Avery Whelan is a 5-foot-11 offensive lineman from Belgrade, Montana.  He attended Belgrade High School and plans to major in Geology.  His parents are Mike and Shannon Coleman.  Whelan is a two time Class-A All-State selection and holds records in squats and bench press for Belgrade.

"Avery is very strong," Stanton said.  "He was an offensive lineman anchor for a good Belgrade team the past two years.  He is very focused, hard working, and driven."

Brandon Shelstad is a 5-foot-11 defensive lineman from Gillette, Wyoming.  He attended Campbell County High School.  He is the son of Del & Nichole. Shelstad is a two-time 4A All-State selection, two-time 4A East All-Conference selection, and a Wyoming Shrine game selection.

"Brandon plays with a high motor and has good hands," Stanton said.  "Although he is smaller for a defensive lineman, he is very explosive and performed very well at the highest level in Wyoming."

Brett Keith is a 6-foot-3 wide receiver and tight end from Miles City, Montana.  He attended Custer County High School and is the son of KC and Lauri.  His brother, JT Keith, was also a wide receiver at Dickinson State.  Keith plans to major in Criminal Justice.  Keith is a two-time All-Conference selection, All-State and Academic All-State selection, and a Montana East-West Shrine game selection.

"Brett has a knack for making the big play.  He has excellent hands and does a really good job with guys on his back and catching the ball in traffic," said Stanton.  "He excels in all sports and will be a great addition to our program."

Cain Boschee is a 6-foot-2 defensive back from Kalispell, Montana.  He attended Glacier High School and plans to major in Exercise Science.  Boschee is the son of Jerry and Michele.  Boschee is a First Team All-State (AA) selection, First Team All-Conference (AA) selection, Class AA State Champion (2014), and a Great Falls Tribune Super State All-Star.

"Cain came into his own during his senior year and developed into one of the top cornerbacks in Montana," Stanton said.  "He is a tremendous athlete with great instincts who also has the capability of playing safety.  He has a great upside and future."

Casey Seidler is a 6-foot-3 defensive end from Custer, South Dakota.  He attended Custer High School and plans to major in Agriculture.  He is the son of Kevin and Jill.

"Casey has a great frame," Stanton said.  "He will have the ability to grow into that frame and play end for us.  He will be a great fit for our program with his size, work ethic, and versatility."

Chase Andersen is a 5-foot-11 wide receiver from Casper, Wyoming.  He attended Natrona County High School and plans to major in Computer Science.  He is the son of Curtiss Andersen and Tannie Johnson.  Andersen is a 4A All-State selection, 4A East All-Conference selection, 4A State Champion, and a Second Team Super 25 selection.

"Chase is a playmaker.  He has great vision and speed in the open field," Stanton said.  "He is a top returner, a fast threat at receive, and has good ball skills on defense.  He will be a great addition to our program in a variety of roles."

Connor Warner is a 5-foot-8 wide receiver and defensive back from Worland, Wyoming.  He attended from Worland High School and plans to major in Physical Education.  He is the son of Michael and Carie.  Warner is a 3A East All-Conference selection.

"Connor is a quick and tough player who made a lot of plays on both sides of the ball for his teams," said Stanton.  "He plays very hard and has great instincts on the field."

Dillon Reiner is a 5-foot-11 running back and defensive back from Bismarck, North Dakota.  He attended St. Mary's Central High School and plans to major in Business.  He is the son of Ken & Brenda.  Reiner is a two-time All-State selection, two-time All-Conference selection, two-time Class AA State Champion, NS  2014 American Family Insurance All-USA North Dakota Football Team selection.

"Dillon is very versatile," Stanton said. "He is one of the top defensive backs n the state who was recruited by a number of schools.  He makes a lot of big plays as evident in the State Championship game last year.  He played running back as well his senior year and really excelled."

Haize Weber is a 6-foot-1 quarterback from Douglas, Wyoming where he attended Douglas High School.  He plans to major in Agriculture and is the son of Todd and Noni. Weber is a 3A All-State selection, two-time 3A East All-Conference selection, 3A State Runner-up, and a Wyoming Shrine game alternate.

"Haize is a very good athlete who had a great senior year at quarterback," Stanton said.  "He has the ability and athleticism to play a variety of positions if needed.  He is a leader and plays at a high level."

Hayden Gibson is a 6-foot-3 quarterback from Bismarck, North Dakota.  He attended Bismarck High School and plans to major in Business.  He is the son of Mark and Lori.  Gibson is a two-time All-State selection, two-time All-Conference selection, WDA Senior Athlete of the Year, and holds passing records at Bismarck.

"Hayden is one of the top quarterbacks in the region," Stanton said.  "He is a natural leader and winner.  He is very intelligent and makes the tough throws.  He has a very strong and accurate arm.  He was a guy that was recruited by a lot of schools and we are excited to have him join our program."

Hunter Saltzman is a 6-foot-2 running back from Roundup, Montana.  He attended Roundup High School and plans to major in Business.  He is the son of Eric and Cory.  Saltzman is a two-time All-State selection, two-time All-Conference selection, Montana Shrine Game selection, and a Class-B All-Star.

"Hunter is a big, strong running back who ran for a lot of yards at Roundup in a Wing-T offense," Stanton said.  "He has very good balance and explosiveness, and with his size and attitude he will be well suited for the next level."

Jayd Rice is a 5-foot-10 fullback from Stanley, North Dakota.  He attended Stanley/Powers Lake High School and is the son of Jamie and Cory Rice.

"Jayd is a hard worker who excels in the weight room," Stanton said.  "We will play him at fullback on offense.  He is a tough guy who loves to play the game."

Jed Fike is a 5-foot-11 running back and defensive back from Harrison, Montana.  He attended Whitehall/Harrison High School and plans to major in Exercise Science.  He is the son of Kenny Fike and Joszie Lerum.  Fike is an All-Conference selection.

"Jed is a very good athlete who battled through some injuries his senior year," Stanton said.  "He is a tough back who cuts well and is explosive.  He was a state champion in the triple jump and is an outstanding student as well."

John Haraldson is a 6-foot-3 lineman from Sidney, Montana.  He attended Sidney High School and is the son of Richard and Darci. 

"John really came on his senior year," Stanton said.  "He has a frame hat he can grow into and really develop as a college offensive lineman.  He is a good drive blocker and ha the drive to succeed."

Joshua Schutkowski is a 5-foot-11 offensive lineman from Cheyenne, Wyoming.  He attended Cheyenne Central High School and plans to major in Physical Education.  He is the son of Michael and Melissa.

"Joshua is a hard-working and driven offensive lineman," Stanton said.  "His work ethic and toughness make him a perfect fit for our program."

Kass Dvorak is a 5-foot-9 running back and linebacker from Dickinson, North Dakota.  He attended Dickinson High School and plans to major in Business.  He is the son of Terry and Marci.

"Kass plays really hard," Stanton said.  "He was a leader for the Dickinson High team on both sides of the ball.  We are impressed with his work ethic and the way he just kept competing all over the field during games."

Lane Voiles is a 6-foot lineman from Gillette, Wyoming.  He attended Campbell County High School and plans to major in Agriculture.  He is the son of Samuel.  Voiles is a 4A East All-Conference selection.

"Lane is a very solid lineman from one of the top programs in Wyoming," Stanton said.  "He will be a great fit for our program because of his work ethic and toughness."

Lewis Dobitz is a 6-foot running back and defensive back from Killdeer, North Dakota.  He attended Killdeer High School and is the son of Lou and Jenny.  Dobitz is an All-Conference selection, All-Region selection, and was selected to the 2015 Badlands Bowl.

"Lewis has great speed and vision at running back," Stanton said. "He is durable and catches the ball well.  He was one of the top players and most versatile athletes in the state."

Morgan Bishop is a 6-foot-1 lineman from Miles City, Montana.  He attended Custer County High School and plans to major in History Education.  He is the son of Tim and Eileen.  Bishop is a First Team All-State selection, East-West Shrine Game alternate, and an Honors student.

"Morgan had a great senior year," Stanton said.  "He is very focused and is a good drive blocker.  He will have the ability to play both guard and center."

Seth Barkley is a 6-foot-1 linebacker from Baker, Montana.  He attended Baker High School and plans to major in Agriculture.  He is the son of Todd and Molly.  Barkley is a two-time All-Conference selection, an All-State selection, and a Class B All-Star.

"Seth is a very solid player," said Stanton.  "As a running back he has great vision and toughness.  At linebacker, he was very effective in both tackling and making plays in space."

Spencer Johnson is a 6-foot defensive lineman from Billings, Montana.  He attended Billings West High School and plans to major in Biology.  He is the son of Marshall and Patricia.

"Spencer has a good motor and plays well with his hands," Stanton said.  "He has played outside in a 4-man front, but has the ability to pass rush from a few different positions.  He has a great passion for football and it shows on the field."

Steven Granillo is a 6-foot-4 lineman from Monterey Park, California.  He will join the Blue Hawks from East Los Angeles College. 

"Steven was a guy we recruited last year," Stanton said.  "He has a very nice frame, sets up well, and has performed well against some very good guys.  He will give us another solid guy at tackle so we can get our best rotations with the returns we have for next year."

T.J. Moore is a 6-foot-1 lineman from Killdeer, North Dakota.  He attended Killdeer High School.  Moore is a First Team All-Region selection, Second Team All-State selection, and helped guide Kildeer to the State Runner-up in 2014.

"TJ played through a lot of adversity his senior year.  He was injured a few times, but stepped up to anchor the front lines for a very good team," Stanton said.  "We will work to get him back and healthy.  He has an opportunity to do well at the college level if he can get healthy."

Tobin O'Brien is a 6-foot-1 lineman from Billings, Montana.  He attended Billings Senior High School and plans to major in Physical Education.  He is the son of Cami.  O'Brien is an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection.

"Tobin gives us some added strength in the offensive line," Stanton said. "He played tackle in high school and will play guard for us.  He drive blocks well and has played a lot of football at the highest level in Montana against some good players."

Trenton Rohr is a 5-foot-10 defensive back from Killdeer, North Dakota.  He attended Killdeer High School and plans to major in Biology.  He is the son of Kij and Donna.  Rohr is a two-time First Team All-Region selection, Second Team All-State selection, and also earned a First Team All-State selection.

"Trenton is a great leader," said Stanton.  "He has good quickness and has the ability to play several positions.  He has a knack for making the big play.  We will start him off at corner, but he is capable of playing several positions."

Dickinson State also brought in seven spring transfers.

Andrew Alt is a 6-foot-5 lineman from Roundup, Montana.  He joins Dickinson State from Montana State University.

Nate Howell is a 6-foot-1 wide receiver from Roundup, Montana.  He comes to the Blue Hawks from Rocky Mountain College.

Deandre Mitchell is a 6-foot-3 defensive lineman from Glendale, California.  He joins Blue Hawks from Glendale Community College.

Brandon Foley is a 5-foot-9 running back from Los Angeles.  He comes to Dickinson State from Glendale Community College.

Frank Ah Kiong is a 5-foot-11 defensive lineman from Sandy, Utah.  He joins the Blue Hawks from Mt. San Antonio.

Cedric Stokes is a 5-foot-8 running back from Trenton, Florida.  He will join the Blue Hawks from Tallahassee Community College.

Luke Olson is a six-foot defensive back from Billings, Montana.

The Blue Hawks look to build on their success in the 2014 season and aim for new heights in 2015.
