DSU Football Falls to 1-1 with Loss to Rocky Mountain College

BILLINGS, MT- The Dickinson State University Football team fell to 1-1 on the early season with a loss to Rocky Mountain College on Saturday.

The Blue Hawks took an early lead in the first quarter with a field goal by Josh Perry-Kruse but the Bears soon tied the game at three with a field goal.

The second quarter seen the Bears score a touchdown while the Blue Hawks gained three more points on another field goal by Perry-Kruse. Going into half time, the Blue Hawks trailed by four.

In the third quarter, the Blue Hawks failed to put up any points while the Bears connected on two field goals. The Bears took a 16-6 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bears and the Blue Hawks each scored a touchdown in the final quarter to end the game with a score of 23-13 in favor of Rocky Mountain College. The Blue Hawks fourth quarter touchdown came on a rush by Tray Boone.

Offensive leaders for the Blue Hawks were Robert Sterling (8-21 passing for 133 yards, 1 INT), Tray Boone (8 rushes for 83 with a TD) and Josh Perry-Kruse (3 receptions for 58 yards).

Defensive leaders for the Blue Hawks were Awa Poggi (9 solo and 14 Assisted Tackles) and Devin Martin (7 solo and 6 assisted tackles).

THe Blue Hawks have a bye week September 5th and will host NSAA rival, the University of Jamestown, on September 12th beginning at 1:00 PM (MDT) at the Henry Biesiot Activities Center for a non-conference game with the Jimmies.
