DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Football team defeated the University of Jamestown Jimmies 24-14 on Saturday in a non-conference game at Henry Biesiot Activities Center.
The Blue Hawks took an early lead in the first quarter when Seth Moerkerke put DSU on the board with a one yard quarterback keeper followed by a Josh Perry-Kruse extra point to put the Blue Hawks up 7-0.
In the second quarter, Robert Sterling scrambled for a 26 yard touchdown once again followed by a Perry-Kruse extra point to put the Blue Hawks up 14-0. The Jimmies answered back on a Sterling pass that was intercepted by Wes Worthen and taken into the endzone for a 30 yard interception return for a TD that put the Jimmies down 14-6 after a missed extra point by Linde.
With one second remaining in the second quarter, Perry-Kruse connected on a 25 yard field goal putting the Blue Hawks up 17-6 heading into halftime.
The only scoring in the third quarter came with one second left when Sterling rushed for his second rushing touchdown of the game followed by a Perry-Kruse extra point to put the Blue Hawks up 24-6.
The Jimmies picked up eight more points in the fourth quarter after Charlie Heck reached the endzone from two yards out followed by a successful two-point conversion to Dan Janu.
The Blue Hawks are now 2-1 (0-0 NSAA) and travel to Presentation College next Saturday as they take on the Saints in their opening game of the NSAA schedule. Game time is set for 6:00 PM (MDT).
