ABERDEEN, SD- Junior Running Back, Tray Boone, leads the Dickinson State University Football team to a NSAA Conference win over Presentation College.
Tray Boone set a new Dickinson State University football single game rushing record with 340 yards on 35 carries with four touchdowns on Saturday at Presentation College. Boone averaged 9.7 yards per carry with his longest run being 53 yards.
Presentation College took an early lead in the first quarter on a touchdown pass from Hayden Zenner to William Moffet to put the Saints up 7-0. The Blue Hawks answered back in the first quarter on a Boone rushing touchdown to tie the game 7-7.
The Blue Hawks were the only team to score in the second quarter when Boone earned his second rushing touchdown of the half putting the Blue Hawks up 14-7 headed into half time.
In the third quarter the Blue Hawks earned two points on a safety when the Saints were stopped in their own endzone giving the Blue Hawks a 16-7 lead. Quarterback Seth Moerkerke gave the Blue Hawks a 22-7 lead when he rushed for his only touchdown of the day on a quarterback keeper.
A high scoring fourth quarter started when Presentations Austin Eggl threw a touchdown pass to Anthony Bricker to put the Saints down 22-14. Boone answered the Saints touchdown with two touchdowns in the third quarter putting the Blue Hawks up 36-14.
DSU Linebacker, Tommy Sease, intercepted an Eggl pass and took it into the endzone for a Blue Hawk touchdown to increase the lead to 43-14. The Saints came back to score before the end of the game when Tanner Menke rushed in a touchdown to finish the game with a score of 43-21.
The Blue Hawks are now 3-1 overall, 1-0 NSAA, and will host NSAA rival Valley City State at 2:00 PM (MDT) on Saturday, September 26th. Make sure to attend the DSU Tailgate before the game. Tailgate begins at 10:00 AM.
