Tray Boone & Tommy Sease Earn NSAA Offensive & Defensive Players of the Week

MADISON, S.D. – Dacotah Bank and the North Star Athletic Association are proud to announce the fourth edition of the Football Players-of-the-Week honors Monday.  Tray Boone and Thomas Sease of Dickinson State (N.D.) were selected to the weekly honors.  Boone was chosen as the Offensive Player-of-the-Week, while Sease was named as Defensive Player-of-the-Week.  DaMario Fair of Valley City State (N.D.) was selected as Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.

Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Tray Boone – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 5'9" – 150 lbs., Junior – running back – Los Angeles, Calif. – Boone set the Dickinson State's (N.D.) school record for most rushing yards in a single game in helping the Blue Hawks gain a 43-21 Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football conference opener victory at Presentation (S.D.).  He rushed 35 times for a total of 340 yards.  Boone had four rushing touchdowns in the game.

Thomas Sease – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'3" – 200 lbs., Sophomore – linebacker – Bismarck, N.D. – Sease intercepted two Presentation's (S.D.) passes, with one returning for a 30-yard touchdown, helping Dickinson State (N.D.) open up their Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football conference season with a 43-21 road victory.  He also registered five tackles – two solo tackles and three assist tackles.

DaMario Fair – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5'8" – 175 lbs., Junior – kickoff returner/running back – Phoenix, Ariz. – Fair had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown as Valley City State (N.D.) opened up the Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football conference play with a 35-13 road victory at Waldorf (Iowa).  His big kickoff return came early in the third quarter after the Warriors had cut VCSU's lead to 14-6.  Fair finished with two kickoff returns for 125 yards (62.5 yards per return) and also had a 52-yard touchdown run in the game.

The fourth edition of the Dacotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association Football Game of the Week featured a night game between Dickinson State (N.D.) and Presentation (S.D.) in both teams' conference season opener at Swisher Field in Aberdeen, S.D.  The Saints struck first after a 64-yard touchdown pass from Hayden Zenner to William Moffet for a 7-0 lead with 12:47 left in the first quarter.  The Blue Hawks answered back with 14 straight points, thanks to a pair of touchdown runs (17- and 53-yards) by Tray Boone for a 14-7 halftime lead.  Dickinson State outscored Presentation 29-14 in the second half to cruise to a 43-21 victory.  The Blue Hawks outgained the Saints 520-406 in total offensive yards and 430-226 in total rushing yards.  Dickinson State is 3-1 overall record and 1-0 NSAA, while Presentation fell to 2-1 overall record and 0-1 NSAA.

Valley City State (N.D.), who moved up from No. 17 to No. 16 in the first edition of the NAIA Football Top 25 national rankings, earned their first conference victory of the season at Waldorf (Iowa).  After holding a slim 14-6 lead in the early third quarter, the Vikings outscored the Warriors 21-7 to gain a 35-13 victory in Forest City, Iowa.  VCSU is 3-1 overall record and 1-0 NSAA.  Waldorf is 1-2 overall record and 1-1 in NSAA conference play.

Dakota State (S.D.) notched their first conference victory of the season on the road in Jamestown, N.D.  The Trojans held a 14-7 halftime lead, but went on to outscore the Jimmies 24-6 in the final 30 minutes of the game for a 38-13 victory.  DaSU moved back to .500 with an overall record of 2-2 and 1-1 NSAA record, while UJ is searching for their first win of the season (0-4 overall record, 0-1 NSAA).

Mayville State (N.D.) was idle last week and will begin their Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football conference this coming Saturday.  The Comets are 2-1 overall record this season.

Looking Ahead
The fifth edition of the Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Game-of-the-Week on Saturday will take place at the Henry Biesiot Activities Center in Dickinson, N.D. where the battle of 3-1 and 1-0 NSAA teams take place.  No. 16-ranked Valley City State (N.D.) continues their action on the road, visiting Dickinson State (N.D.).  Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. (Central Time)/2 p.m. (Mountain Time) on Saturday.

Mayville State (N.D.) hosts their first NSAA conference game of the season Saturday versus Presentation (S.D.) at 1 p.m.

Dakota State (S.D.) and Waldorf (Iowa) will step aside their conference play on Saturday.  The Trojans travel to St. Ambrose (Iowa) with a 1 p.m. kickoff, while the Warriors visit Buena Vista (Iowa) in a night game at 7 p.m.
