No. 25 Dickinson State Football Rolls Past Jimmies 51-7

JAMESTOWN, ND- the Dickinson State University Football team defeated the University of Jamestown 51-7 on Saturday in a NSAA match up. The Blue Hawks are now 6-1 overall, 4-0 NSAA.

The Blue Hawks and the Jimmies both failed to score in the first quarter but the Blue Hawks came alive in the second quarter to put up 24 points to take a 24-0 lead into half time.

Tray Boone broke the 0-0 tie in the second quarter when he rushed for the first two touchdowns started with a with a 14 yard touchdown run followed by a Josh Perry-Kruse extra point to put the Blue Hawks up 7-0. Robert Sterling added to the lead with a five yard rushing touchdown with a successful Perry-Kruse extra point to put the Blue Hawks up 14-0 in the second quarter.

To end the second quarter, Perry-Kruse connected on a 43 yard field goal with one second left to put the Blue Hawks up 24-0.

In the third quarter, Jake Hardy ran in a six yard touchdown to put the Blue Hawks up 31-0 but the Jimmies answered back when Michael Sena caught a 25 yard touchdown pass to put the Jimmies down 31-7. To end the third quarter, Seth Moerkerke tossed a 20 yard touchdown pass to Perry-Kruse to put the Blue Hawks up 38-7 after three quarters.

Senior, Riley Moore, scored on a one yard rush in the fourth quarter followed by a Josh Torgerson extra point to put the Blue Hawks up 44-7. Dickinson State finished off the game with a Justin Camara eight yard rushing touchdown to give the Blue Hawks a 51-7 win over the Jimmies.

Boone led the Blue Hawks offense with 73 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns while Robert Sterling passed for 133 yards while completing 11 of 18 passes. Austin Brown led the receivers with four catches for 50 yards.

Matt McCoy led the Blue Hawks in tackles with six while Jay Liggins and Noey Tauave each recorded five tackles. Liggins also had one interception for five yards while Robert Nalewaja also had a interception for 45 yards. Linebacker Colby Wartman also had an interception for 63 yards in the win.

The Blue Hawks are now 6-1 overall and 4-0 in NSAA play. Dickinson State returns to the field on October 17th when they travel to Madison, SD to take on the Dakota State University Trojans at 12:00 PM (MDT).
