Dickinson State Signs Hunter Johnson for Football and Track

DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University is proud to announce the signing of Hunter Johnson from Bismarck High School.  Hunter has signed to play football and run track for the Blue Hawks.

Hunter was an All-State selection this past fall in two sports; football & soccer for the Demons.  This marks the third year in a row the Blue Hawks have signed an impact player from Bismarck High School; the others being Thomas Sease and Jamalcolm Liggins in 2014, and Hayden Gibson in 2015.

Johnson was the 2015 State Champion in the 200 meter dash, he was also a member of the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relay teams that won state championships.  Johnson was also runner-up in the 100 meter dash.  He has career bests of 10.81 and 21.74 in the 100 and 200 meter dashes respectively.  He had several D1 and D2 offers to run track.  Hunter was named to the All-State & All-Region AAA teams this past fall in football as a kicker.  He was the Demons second-leading scorer this fall on the gridiron.  He has a career long field goal of 39 yards and was successful on 100% of his PAT's.

"In my 17 years at Bismarck High School, he is the best and most consistent kicker we have ever had", said Demons Head Football Coach and former Blue Hawk Football player Mark Gibson.

On the soccer field Johnson left Bismarck High as the second-leading goal scorer in the history of the program.  He was named to the All-State & All-Region teams in 2013, 2014, and 2015.  During those campaigns he led the Demons every year in goals scored.  He received scholarship offers from Big 10 and ACC schools for his play on the soccer field.

Stay tuned to more signees in the following days, as the Blue Hawks will announce more athletes that will join the football program in the fall of 2016.
