Billings Senior, Tyger Frye, Signs to Play WR for Dickinson State University

DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Football is happy to announce the signing of Tyger Frye. Frye is a 5'11" 165 pound wide receiver from Billings Senior High School in Montana.

Frye was a standout wide receiver for the Broncs, who played for the Class AA State Championship this year.  He was named to the Class AA All-State 1st Team Offense (largest classification) this past fall as well as named to the Eastern AA 1st  All-Conference team.  He recorded 60 receptions and 6 touchdowns for 672 yards this past year.  Frye finished his high school career with 104 receptions for 1,193 yards and 14 TD's for the Broncs.

Frye was coached by former University of Mary defensive back Chris Murdock who said, "I'm very happy Tyger found a good fit to continue his football career.  We are going to miss his toughness, consistency and big play ability.  Tyger was a big part of our success the past two seasons."

Frye will join an already strong receiving corps that returns all but 18 catches.  The Blue Hawks finished 8-3 last season and were crowned North Star Conference Champions, their 23rd conference championship.

Frye is also a standout wrestler for the Broncs wrestling team.  He was the 132 pound State Champion in 2015 and is ranked #1 in the state of Montana right now at his current weight class.

Last week Frye was also selected to play in the Montana East/West All-Star Shrine Game to be held in Butte in July.

Tyger will major in Secondary & Special Education while attending Dickinson State University.

Tyger is son of Bret and Star Frye.

"We are pleased to add Tyger to our program. Tyger is a playmaker. He understands spacing on offense well. He does a great job of catching the ball in traffic,  and once he catches it is very elusive and does a great job with the ball in his hands.  He comes from a great program in Billings Senior that just finished as State Runner-up in Montana. He is also a state champion wrestler that is a well-rounded athlete and great competitor. Tyger will be a welcome addition to our receiver group, and will fit in very well with what we do offensively. ", said Blue Hawks Head Coach Pete Stanton.
