DICKINSON, ND- Coach Pete Stanton, Head Football Coach at Dickinson State, is excited to announce the signings Jonathan Rush and Devin Abdullah. Both signees hail from the Lone Star state of Texas.
Jonathan Rush starred at Canyon High School in New Braunfels as a Running Back. Rush was an all-purpose back for the Cougars, he rushed for 3,480 yards in his career and 45 touchdowns. He also racked up nearly 1,500 yards in receiving and return yards. Rush (5’8” 170 lbs) was an All-District player at the 6A level (highest level of football in Texas) his senior season. He was also on the All-District Academic Team. He will study Communications while at Dickinson State University.
Coach Stanton, “Jonathan is a very good running back. He has great vision and has the ability to cut well and accelerate out of traffic. Jonathan also catches the ball well and will be a threat as both a runner and receiver. He has played High School football at a high level and understands what it takes to be successful.”
Devin Abdullah was a two-way player for Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. Abdullah is a 6’0” 217 pound linebacker/fullback. He averaged 8 tackles /game for the Titans, who are historically one of the top programs in Texas at the 6A Level. In their first game of the year this past fall, Trinity beat the #1 ranked team in the country, De La Salle High School out of California 26-21. Abdullah also rushed for 133 yards and 2 TD’s as a fullback. The Titans were district champions in 2014 & 2015. He served on the teams “Unity Council” and received the “Coaches Award” this past fall.
Coach Stanton, “Devin has a very high motor and pursues on defense extremely well. He is a natural at linebacker by being a very sound tackler and leader. He has played successfully at the highest level possible in high school. His ability to play LB well and his leadership skills will contribute to him being very successful at the college level. “
