Trayson Marker signs with Blue Hawks

DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Football is excited to announce the signing of Trayson Marker. Marker is a 5'11" 160 pound defensive back from Billings West High School in Montana.  He is the second Golden Bear to sign with the Blue Hawks this week, as Aaric Spring previously signed his Letter of Intent to join the Blue Hawks.

Marker was the do-it-all this season for the Golden Bears, who qualified for the Class AA Play-Offs this year.  He was named to the Class AA All-State team (largest classification) this past fall as well as named to the Eastern AA All-Conference team on offense and defense.  He did a little of everything, playing quarterback, wide receiver, running back and safety for the Bears.  He was an All-State selection at wide receiver.  He received the “Leather Helmet Award”, which is the team’s MVP as well as the offensive MVP.

Marker was coached by Blue Hawk legend Rob Stanton, who is also the brother of Blue Hawk head coach Pete Stanton, who said, "Trayson is a phenomenal competitor.  He filled many roles on our team this past year as an offensive and defensive player.  He is a state champion wrestler and is a fierce competitor.  He is a very humble young man that will fit in well at DSU.  His potential on the field and in the classroom is tremendous.  I look forward to following his continued success for the Blue Hawks!."

Marker is also a standout wrestler for the Bears wrestling team.  He was the 138 pound State Champion in 2015 and is ranked #1 in the state of Montana right now at his current weight class, and is a 3-time state placer.  As a junior he was selected the wrestling teams MVP.

Marker is also a great student, as he has been on the Honor Roll all four years of high school.

Trayson will major in Business while attending Dickinson State University.

Trayson is the son of Darin and Michelle Marker.

"Trayson is a great competitor. His coaches had a hard time keeping him off the field . He is very tough and athletic. He is an outstanding wrestler as well. Trayson will play in the secondary where he has excelled with his sure tackling and outstanding play in space. His work ethic and resiliency will help him be successful at the college level.", said Blue Hawks Head Coach Pete Stanton.

The Blue Hawks finished 8-3 last season and were crowned North Star Conference Champions, their 23rd conference championship.
