DICKINSON, N.D. - The battle of North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) preseason top two teams - No. 21-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) - is set for Saturday afternoon at Henry Biesiot Activities Center. The non-conference clash is set for 3 p.m. (Central Time)/2 p.m. (Mountain Time).
Dickinson State won the North Star Athletic Association football conference title last season, while Valley City State (N.D.) as well as Dakota State (S.D.) finished one game behind the Blue Hawks.
The Vikings are coming off from a 15-10 non-conference victory over rival Jamestown (N.D.) on Aug. 25 in Valley City, N.D. The Blue Hawks dropped their season opener on Aug. 27 in Miles City, Mont. in the early battle of the NAIA's Top 25 Football ranked teams, losing to No. 25-ranked Montana Western 29-13.
Dickinson State took the last meeting with Valley City State on Sept. 26, 2015 in Dickinson, N.D. The Blue Hawks jumped to a 21-0 lead and went on to defeat the Vikings by the score of 28-7. Both teams will be meeting for the second time later this season, with the NSAA conference game being played in Valley City, N.D. one month later on Oct. 1.
