Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Players-of-the-Week No. 5 announced

MADISON, S.D. – Dickinson State (N.D.) swept the fifth edition of the Dacotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Football Players-of-the-Week. The weekly honors were announced by the conference office Monday. Hayden Gibson was selected to the Offensive Player-of-the-Week, while his teammate Cain Boschee was chosen as Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

NSAA Football Offensive Player of the Week

Hayden Gibson – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'3" – 230 lbs., Sophomore – quarterback – Bismarck, N.D. – Gibson went 18-of-28 for 325 passing yards in propelling No. 20-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) to a 52-7 North Star conference victory at Mayville State (N.D.). He had three touchdown passes in the game and committed one interception.

NSAA Football Defensive Player of the Week

Cain Boschee – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'3" – 185 lbs., Junior – defensive back – Kalispell, Mont. – Boschee had two solo tackles and three interceptions in helping No. 20-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) to a 52-7 dominating road victory over Mayville State (N.D.). One of his three interceptions included a 40-yard return for a touchdown.

Recap from last week's games

No. 20 Dickinson State (N.D.) bounced back in the winning column at Mayville State (N.D.) on Sept. 23. Holding a slim 97 lead after the first quarter, the Blue Hawks reeled off 43 straight points to cruise past Comets by the score of 52-7. DiSU racked over 550 offensive yards while holding MSU to 250 offensive yards. Dickinson State is 3-1 overall record and 2-0 record in North Star conference play. Mayville State remained winless in four games and 0-2 NSAA conference record.

Waldorf (Iowa) opened up with a 10-0 lead at Jamestown (N.D.). The Jimmies trailed 10-8 at halftime and outscored the Warriors 12-2 in the second quarter for a 20-12 lead. UJ widen their lead to 26-12 early in the fourth quarter and held on to a 26-19 victory over WU. Jamestown earned their first win of the season (1-4 overall record, 1-1 NSAA conference record), while Waldorf fell to 2-2 overall record and 1-1 North Star conference record.

Valley City State (N.D.) was idle last week with a forfeit victory over Finlandia (Mich.). The Vikings are 2-2 overall record and 1-1 NSAA conference record.

Looking Ahead

Presentation (S.D.) and Dakota State (S.D.) will be playing their make-up game Monday (today) at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls, S.D. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.

On Saturday, four games are on schedule. Presentation stays on the road at No. 20-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.). Waldorf (Iowa) returns back home as they host Valley City State (N.D.) in the Dacotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association Football Game-of-the-Week. Jamestown (N.D.) hosts Dakota State (S.D.). Mayville State (N.D.) remains home versus Montana State-Northern.
