DICKINSON, N.D. – Montana State-Northern got the better of the Blue Hawks on Thursday (Feb. 20) in a Frontier Conference game. Dickinson State traveled to Northern for first game of a back-to-back road trip and were defeated 81-49. The Blue Hawks are now 7-19 on the season, with a 2-12 conference record.
Four different players for Northern recorded 10 or more points, but it was Alfie Miller who led the scoring with 14. Roshawn West, Mike LaValley, and Will Perry each registered 13 points. Corbin Pearson led the Skylights' rebounding efforts with seven total rebounds and led in assists with four. Northern finished with 31 rebounds, 15 assists, 15 turnovers, and a shooting percentage of 52.1.
Junior Tevin Russell came off the bench for Head Coach Ty Orton and led the Blue Hawks with 12 points. Junior Mackenson Odenier finished with nine. Junior Juston Goodwin and freshman Jacob Volk each registered six points. Goodwin led Dickinson State with six rebounds and tied for the team lead with two assists. Russell led the Blue Hawks with three steals. Dickinson State finished with 28 rebounds, five assists, seven steals, and a shooting percentage of 44.7.
The final game of the regular season is scheduled for Friday (Feb. 21) when the Blue Hawks travel to Carroll College. Dickinson State will be looking for revenge against the Saints. The last time the two teams met Carroll handed the Blue Hawks a 77-68 loss. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MST.
