Dickinson, ND – The Blue Hawks' search for their first win of the season will continue, as they fell to Chadron State on Friday, November 8, 89-76. The Blue Hawks are now 0-3 on the season
The first half saw three lead changes, with Dickinson State's largest lead being by five with 16:21 left on the clock. The Eagles largest lead would come 8:55 to play, as they led by six. Only one player would claim more than 10 points in the half, as Chadron guard Grant Stone brought 13 points with him into the locker room. The Eagles shot 50% from the floor, including six three pointers. Chadron had a 42-39 lead as time expired in the half.
The second half was mostly Chadron, as they outscored Dickinson State 47-37. Stone would finish with 20 points, a team high. Joining him with over 10 points was Christopher Smith (14) and Zac Bargen (15). Chris Taylor led the Eagles in rebounding with 12 total boards. As a team, the Eagles had 37 rebounds and 19 steals. Chadron shot 53.6% from the floor and went 14-of-21 from the free throw line.
Dickinson State was led by junior center Mackenson Odenier, who scored 22 points. Senior guard Ty Ackelson scored 17 and adding 10 of his own was junior Tevin Russell. Senior post player Isiah Thomas led the Blue Hawks with eight rebounds. Russell also had four steals, a team high. The Blue Hawks would finish with 27 rebounds, 17 steals, and a shooting percentage of 49.
The Blue Hawks will play November 12, at Minot State in an exhibition game.
