Lewis-Clark downs Dickinson State, 82-64

DICKINSON, N.D. – Junior guard Tevin Russell knocked down 22 points for the Blue Hawks, but it was not enough to overcome Lewis-Clark.  Dickinson State fell 82-64 and are now 6-10 on the season 1-3 in conference games.  Lewis-Clark improved to 15-4.

The Blue Hawks battled through a tight first half that saw eight lead changes.  The back and forth first half saw 14 points from Russell and 11 from Lewis-Clark's Jacob Champoux.  Each bench scored eight in the first.  With a tie game Dickinson State freshman Jacob Volk hit a mid-range two at 11:28 to give the Blue Hawks a lead.  Jamaal Clark would tie it up on a second chance opportunity in the paint with 10:37 to play.  Thomas would add another bucket from underneath 25 seconds later to give the Warriors the lead.  The half ended with Lewis-Clark ahead 42-37.  With 16:45 remaining in regulation the Warriors gained their first double digit lead on a basket from Champoux and they would finish with an 82-64 victory.

Champoux and E.J. Farris led the Warriors with 22 points each.  Brady Bagby finished with 13 points and a team high seven rebounds.   Five Lewis-Clark players tallied three assists.  The Warriors finished with 41 rebounds, 17 assists, 15 turnovers, and a shooting percentage of 47.5.

Russell led the Blue Hawks with 22 points, followed by junior Mackenson Odenier with 12.  Odenier led Dickinson State with seven rebounds.  Senior guard Brock Boos tallied four assists and eight points. Junior guard DeSean Atkins led the Blue Hawks with three steals.  Dickinson State finished with nine steals, three blocks, 31 rebounds, 12 assists, and a shooting percentage of 45.5.

The Blue Hawks will be back on the court on Saturday (Jan. 11) when they travel to Butte, Mont. to take on Montana Tech.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
