DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks rolled to a 71-60 win over the University Great Falls behind Tevin Russell's 24 points. Dickinson State is now 6-8 overall with a 1-1 mark in the Frontier Conference.
Marcel Towns picked up 21 points for Great Falls, while TJ Harris added 10. Towns also led the Argos with five rebounds. The Argos finished with 31 rebounds, seven assists, five steals, and turned the ball over 13 times. Great Falls shot 31 percent from the floor. The Argos held the lead just twice and their largest lead was two. Great Falls was able to knock a 13 point deficit down to just two with 4:57 to play in regulation before Dickinson State would grab hold and finish with an 11 point lead.
Junior Tevin Russell put up 24 points for the Blue Hawks in 34:55 on the court. Russell also added six rebounds and four assists. Senior Ty Ackelson notched 14 points and six rebounds. Freshman Jacob Volk came off the bench for head coach Ty Orton and tallied seven points and two rebounds. Junior Mackenson Odenier continued his hot streak with his second double-double in as many games. Odenier recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Blue Hawks finished with 42 rebounds, four steals, a 49 shooting percentage, and 17 assists.
The Blue Hawks will be back on the court on Saturday (Jan. 4) against Montana State-Northern in a Frontier Conference contest in Scott Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
