BISMARCK, N.D. – Dickinson State defeated NCAA Division II University of Mary on Monday (Nov. 17) in an exhibition game, 81-75. The victory is the first for the Blue Hawks over a NCAA Division II team since the 2009-10 season, when they defeated the University of Minnesota-Crookston, 70-43. The game between Mary and Dickinson State was a regular season matchup for the Marauders.
Marquealis Edwards led the Marauders with 19 points. Damonta Henry and Devan Douglas each tallied 14. Jaycob Velasco scored 12. Douglas led Mary with seven rebounds. Edwards notched six assists. The Marauders finished with 31 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals, 13 turnovers, and a shooting percentage of 42.9.
Tevin Russell led the Blue Hawks offense with 21 points. Both Mackenson Odenier and Jacob Gondrezick recorded 18 points. Curtis Redd picked up 14 points. Redd led the Blue Hawks with six boards. Russell converted all five of his shots from the charity stripe, while Redd converted on six. The Blue Hawks finished with 27 rebounds, 11 assists, three blocks, and four steals. Dickinson State posted a season high 56.3 shooting percentage.
The Blue Hawks will be back in action on Friday (Nov. 21) at Montana Tech.
