HELENA, Mont. – After picking up an exhibition win over NCAA Division II University of Mary on Monday, the Blue Hawks looked to pick up their second win in three games. Dickinson State traveled to Carroll College on Saturday (Nov. 22). The Blue Hawks picked up their third win of the season, 82-69.
The victory over Carroll College marks the third win against Frontier Conference opponents, tying the win total versus Frontier opponents last season.
Oliver Carr was the main offensive weapon for Carroll, he tallied 25 points. Both Zayn Kirkendoll and Zach Taylor recorded 13 points. Jake Hollifield led the Saints with seven rebounds. Carroll only recorded five offensive rebounds. The Saints' offense struggled mightily in the second half, shooting just 22.2 percent from the floor. That percentage included the 0-for-7 mark from behind the three-point line. Carroll finished with 28 rebounds, 17 turnovers, two blocks, and six steals. The Saints shot 36.8 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc.
The Blue Hawks were led by senior Tevin Russell, who tallied 18 points. Jacob Gondrezick and Connor Donaldson each scored 16 points. Gondrezick finished 4-of-7 from the three-point line. Mackenson Odenier finished with 13 points. Donaldson led the Blue Hawks with six rebounds. Curtis Redd recorded four steals. The Blue Hawks finished with 38 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks, and 11 steals. Dickinson State made 10 three-point shots and 20 free throws, 19 of which came in the second half. The Blue Hawks finished with a shooting percentage of 47.3.
The Blue Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 25) when they travel to Minot State.
