DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks' offense had their best offensive outing of the season on Friday (Jan. 9) against Briercrest College, as Dickinson State came away with a 108-37 victory. The Blue Hawks are now 6-9 on the season.
Dickinson State opened with an 11-0 lead before advancing to a 30-5 lead. At the half the Blue Hawks posted a 31 point lead, 54-23.
The Blue Hawks then opened the second half on another 11-0 run. Dickinson State posted runs of six, seven, and eight to zero in the second half.
Brandon Friesen led the Clippers with 10 points and tied for the team high with four rebounds. Josh Klassen and Taran Garchinski each posted four rebounds. Ryan Penner picked up three steals, but had six turnovers. The Clippers finished with 29 rebounds, seven steals, 30 rebounds, and a shooting percentage of just 22.8.
Connor Donaldson post 24 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Hawks. Jacob Gondrezick picked up 21 points, including 15 from beyond the arc. Tevin Russell notched 16 points and six rebounds. Myka Brown led the Blue Hawks with 12 rebounds. Gondrezick also dished out five assists. Dickinson State finished with 53 rebounds, 17 assists, three blocks, 13 steals, and a shooting percentage of 54.1. Dickinson State made 13 shots from beyond the three-point line.
The Blue Hawks will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 10) against Briercrest. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
