Dickinson, ND- Dickinson State Men's Basketball (11-14, 3-5) upset's #24 ranked Jamestown Jimmies (17-8, 5-3) in a North Star Athletic Association match up on senior night 76-75. The Blue Hawks took a 40-32 lead into halftime. despite struggling from the field in the first half, the Jimmies quickly took control of the the game early in the second half while the Blue Hawks watched their eight point lead at half turn to a ten point deficit. The Blue Hawks continued to battle back late in the second half when Curtis Redd hit a jumper to put the Hawks back within one. The Blue hawks got the ball back with 12 seconds left on the game clock, down one. After a missed field goal, the Jimmies tipped the ball out of bounds in Blue Hawk territory with five seconds remaining. When in bounded, the ball ended up in Junior Guard Jacob Gondrezick's hands who connected on a ten footer with .7 seconds remaining, putting the Hawks up 76-75 and thats all the hawks needed to clinch the NSAA Conference match up.
The Blue Hawks were led in scoring by Tevin Russell with 22 points with five assists. Jacob Gondrezick tallied 12 points while Curtis Redd came off the bench with 17 points. The Jimmies were led by Brequan Tucker with 21 points and Cedric Smith with 19 points.
The Blue Hawks travel to Aberdeen, SD to take on the Saints of Presentation College on Feb. 18th and finish up the regular season on Feb. 21st in Madison, SD as they take on Dakota State University.
