Dickinson, ND- - The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team had its chances on Thursday night in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men' Basketball Quarterfinals. With eight lead changes, five ties and the Hawk's biggest lead in the first half at 8, they couldn't hold on to upset #2 seed Dakota State. In the second half the Hawks were outscored by the Trojans, 54-38 to give the Trojans the 85-74 victory.
While the first half belonged to the Hawks with a score of 36-31, momentum quickly went to the Trojans of Dakota State to start the second half. The Trojans went on a 10-5 scoring run and tied the game at 41-41 with 16:40 remaining in the game. The Trojan's offense was ignited by Bryant Allan who finished the game with 40 points, 7-10 from behind the arc.
With 8:52 left, the Hawks were still in it and led 63-62. The Trojans went on a 15-4 run and took the 77-66 lead. The lead was too much for the Hawks to overcome. The Blue Hawks finish their 2014-2015 campaign with an overall record of 11-17 and 3-7 in North Star Athletic Association Play.
The Hawks leading scorers were led by Jacob Gondrezick with 19 points. He was 7-of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 from the 3-point line. Billy Engel added 13 points. Connor Donaldson had 12 points. Curtis Redd scored 11 points off the bench. Tevin Russell had nine points.
