Blue Hawks Add Two Solid Players to their Recruiting Class

DICKINSON, ND- Men’s Basketball Coach Justin Wetzel is announcing the additions of 6’4 sharp shooting guard Stephon Dafney and 6’0 combo guard Dontae Clark who both played at Los Angeles Southwest College.

“Los Angeles Southwest is a great program with great coaching, Coach Kyles at Southwest is someone who I have great respect for and we are getting two quality young men,” said Wetzel.

Dafney known for being an outside shooting threat was a key figure in on the Los Angeles 2012 championship team that went 21-8 on the season. “Dickinson was the school I was born to go to, and I’m excited to be able to enjoy the opportunity of being a part of the community, university, and the program…GO Blue Hawks!”  stated Dafney.

Clark is a hard-nosed competitor on both ends of the floor.  At Southwest Clark was the MVP of the South Coast Conference, where he averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds, three assist and two steals per game, in addition was a First-Team all-state pick in the prestigious California Community College Athletic Association. “To put it simple Dickinson felt like home, after my first conversation with Coach Wetzel we didn’t even talk basketball.  It was about him wanting to put me in a position to go back home with a degree, I’ve had opportunities to sign other places but that’s what sold me,” said Clark.

“Coach Nunes (Blue Hawk assistant) did a great job in the evaluation and recruitment process of Stephon and Dontae, he has been on them for a while and it paid off, it’s always exciting to bring quality people into your program,” said Wetzel.
