DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team earned an opening season victory over the Oglala Lakota College Brave Hearts on Friday night with a score of 129-55.
The Blue Hawks came out in the first half on fire shooting 64 percent from the field, 40 percent from behind the arc and 71 percent from the free throw line while the Brave Hearts shot 23 percent from the field, 18 percent from three point land and 73 percent from the charity stripe.
Dickinson State headed into the locker room at halftime with a 69-25 lead over the Brave Hearts.
In the second half, the Blue Hawks put up 60 points while the Brave Hearts tallied another 25 points leading to a final score of 129-50.
Dickinson State shot 54 percent from the field, 40 percent from behind the arc and 46 percent from the free throw line while the Brave Hearts shot 26 percent from the field, 23 percent from three point land and 75 percent from the charity stripe in the second half.
Leading the offense for the Blue Hawks was Jacob Gondrezick with 25 points while Julian Vasquez added 21 points. Brandon Ruffin tallied 17 points, Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. had 14 and Roybell Baez added 11 in the victory.
The Blue Hawks finished the game shooting 59 percent from the field, 40 percent from three, 55 percent from the free throw line, 71 total rebounds, 26 assists, seven blocks, 12 steals and 15 turnovers.
Dickinson State returns to the court on Wednesday, October 28th when they host Minot State in Scott Gym at 7:30 PM (MDT).
