DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team defeated Yellowstone Christian College 103-65 Tuesday night in Scott Gymnasium.
Dickinson State allowed Yellowstone Christian College to hang with them in the first half but pulled away in the second half for a well needed and deserved win for the Blue Hawks.
The Blue Hawks led Yellowstone Christian 43-36 at half time while the Blue Hawks shot 43 percent from the field and 30 percent from three while Yellowstone Christian shot 48 percent from the field and 25 percent from three in the first half.
Dickinson State got hot in the second half shooting 58 percent from the field and 54 percent from three while Yellowstone Christian cooled off only shooting 28 percent from the field and 17 percent from three. In the second half, the Blue Hawks outscored Yellowstone Christian 60-29.
Brandon Ruffin led the Blue Hawks with 19 points while Curtis Redd, Kolbi Selby and Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. each added 12 points for the Blue Hawks. Jacob Gondrezick, and Julian Vasquez each recorded 11 points in the win.
Yellowstone Christian was led by Darius Jenkins with 16 points, Keegan Oyugi with 15 and Dusan Spasojevic with 10.
The Blue Hawks finished the game with 44 rebounds, 27 assists, 14 turnovers, five blocks and 12 steals while Yellowstone Christian recorded 34 rebounds, 10 assists, 25 turnovers, two blocks and six steals.
Dickinson State is now 2-2 and 0-0 NSAA in the early season and will travel to play D1 Idaho State in a exhibition game on November 16th.
