DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team defeated the Waldorf College Warriors 93-61 in the Blue Hawks opening game of the NSAA season on Tuesday night in Scott Gymnasium.
The Blue Hawks outscored the Warriors 51-31 in the first half and never looked back the rest of the game.
Dickinson State shot 59 percent from the field and 44 percent from three in the first half while the Warriors shot 38 percent from the field and 33 percent from three.
In the second half, the Blue Hawks outscored the Warriors 42-30 to earn their first win in the NSAA with a final of 93-61.
The Blue Hawks finished the game shooting 51 percent from the field, 46 percent from three and 53 percent from the line while the Warriors shot 37 percent from the field, 22 percent from three and 75 percent from the line in the loss to the Blue Hawks.
Erik Brewer led the Warriors with 12 points while June Prowell and Tyler Parrish each added 10 points in the loss to the Blue Hawks.
The Blue Hawks earned the NSAA win grabbing 47 rebounds with 12 assists, 12 turnovers, five blocks and 10 steals while the Warriors finished with 32 rebounds, 5 assists, 14 turnovers, two blocks and eight steals.
Dickinson State is now 7-3 overall and 1-0 in NSAA play while the Warriors who received votes in the last poll release have a 6-4 overall record and are now 1-3 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks travel to Florida to play Florida National on Friday at 7:00 PM and Keiser University on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
