DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team was defeated by the Dakota State University Trojans on Saturday night in Scott Gym, 105-84.
The Blue Hawks found themselves down going into halftime, 55-44, after shooting 61 percent from the field and 17 percent from three while the Trojans shot 64 percent from the field and 64 percent from three in the first half.
The Trojans came out of halftime and never let the Blue Hawks back in the game, outscoring the Blue Hawks 50-40 in the second half. Dakota State shot 57 percent from the field and 50 percent from three in the second half while the Blue Hawks shot 48 percent from the field and 21 percent from three.
Reggie Fields Jr. and Julian Vasquez led the Blue Hawks with 18 points each. Curtis Redd scored 12, Jacob Gondrezick added 11 and Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. finished with 1o points in the loss to the Trojans.
Dakota State had six players finish with double digit scoring, led by Ian Barse's 20 points. Adam Hofer scored 19, Kyle Kilgore with 17, Derek Meger scored 14, Brendon Boomsma recorded 12 and Tanner Heiser finished with 11 points.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 55 percent from the field, 20 percent from three and 48 percent from the line with 27 rebounds, 13 assists, 13 turnovers, three blocks and six steals.
The Trojans finished the game shooting 60 percent from the field, 57 percent from three and 90 percent from the line with 35 rebounds, 20 assists, 13 turnovers and five steals.
The Blue Hawks are now 10-10 overall and 3-2 in NSAA play while the Trojans are 10-11 overall and 4-2 in the NSAA.
Dickinson State will now travel to the University of Jamestown on Wednesday, January 27th to take on the Jimmies in NSAA play before returning home on Saturday, January 30th when they host Valley City State at 6:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
