DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team lost a heart breaker to Valley City State University on Saturday night in Scott Gymnasium.
The Blue Hawks seen the game winning shot by Curtis Redd miss left as regulation ended finalizing a one point loss to the Vikings, 75-74.
Dickinson State went into the locker room at halftime down 43-35 after shooting 46 percent from the field and 0-4 from behind the arc while the Vikings shot 45 percent from the field and 29 percent from three in the first half.
The Blue Hawks came out of halftime and outscored the Vikings in the second half but they fell one point short.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field, 21 percent from three and 63 percent from the line with 42 rebounds, 11 assists, eight turnovers, four blocks and one steal.
Valley City State finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 52 percent from the line with 46 rebounds, nine assists, six turnovers, three blocks and five steals.
Darryl Howell led the Vikings with 18 points while Justyn Galloway and Ellwood Ellenson each added 10 points in the victory over the Blue Hawks.
Dickinson State is now 11-11 overall and 4-3 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks travel to Presentation College on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday to host Mayville State at 6:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium. Both games this week are NSAA conference games.
