Blue Hawks End Season with Loss to Jamestown in NSAA Tournament

JAMESTOWN, ND- The Dickinson State University Men's Basketball team ended their 2015-16 season Thursday night in Jamestown with a loss to the Jimmies in the opening round of the NSAA tournament, 93-74.

Dickinson State held its biggest lead of the game at the 12:30 mark in the first half when they were up by two points over the Jimmies. The University of Jamestown seen their biggest lead of the game at the 1:42 mark in the second half when they led the Blue Hawks by 20 points.

At halftime, the Jimmies held a 37-33 lead after shooting 31 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 80 percent from the line. The Blue Hawks shot 52 percent from the field, 63 percent from three and 40 percent from the line in the first half.

The University of Jamestown then outscored the Blue Hawks 56-41 in the second half leading to a 93-74 victory over Dickinson State.

The Blue Hawks finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field, 45 percent from three and 64 percent from the line with 39 rebounds, 11 assists, 17 turnovers, five blocks and five steals.

The Jimmies finished the game shooting 40 percent from the field, 55 percent from three and 87 percent from the line with 39 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 turnovers, five blocks and five steals.

Dickinson State says farewell to their six seniors. Billy Engel, Jacob Gondrezick, Curtis Redd, Roybell Baez, Julian Vasquez and Kolbi Selby all played their last game as a Blue Hawk.

Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. led the Blue Hawks with 16 rebounds and 11 rebounds. Billy Engel added 15 points while Stephon Dafney finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Gondrezick also scored 11 points in the loss to the Jimmies.

Brequan Tucker led the Jimmies with a game high 38 points. Sam Johnson recorded 21 points while Jake Hagler added 12 points in the Jimmie victory.

Dickinson State finishes their season with a 13-16 record while the Jimmies will continue in the NSAA tournament on Saturday.
