Blue Hawks comeback to defeat Johnson & Wales

DICKINSON, ND – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team fought to a 86-79 comeback non-conference win over the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats on Saturday night.

The Blue Hawks trailed Johnson & Wales at halftime with a score of 45-33 and the Blue Hawks outscored the Wildcats in the second half with a 53-34 score to win the contest with a final score of 86-79.

The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Jerry Shelvin with 18 points. Juniors Ryan Clark and Marcus White also scored in double digits for the Blue Hawks with 15 total points each. Junior Terrell Butler also chipped in 14 total points for the Blue Hawks. Ryan Clark led the Blue Hawks with 8 total rebounds followed by senior Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. with 4 total rebounds.  Senior Jake Buck led the Blue Hawks with a total of 6 assists for the game.

Johnson & Wales University had two players score in double digits and had one player with eleven rebounds.

Dickinson State shot 54 percent from the field, 27 percent from three and 67 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 34 rebounds, 16 assists, 2 block, 6 steals and 10 turnovers.

Johnson & Wales University  shot 50 percent from the field, 57 percent from three and 40 percent from the free throw line. The Wildcats recorded a total of 35 rebounds, 10 turnovers, 1 block and 3 steals.

The Blue Hawks are now 5-4 and 0-0 NSAA. The Blue Hawks open up North Star conference play next weekend on the road against the Jamestown Jimmies on Friday December 2nd and the Mayville Comets on Saturday December 3rd. The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Friday, December 9th as they host North Star Conference opponent Bellevue University at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
