BILLINGS, MT – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team defeated the Rocky Mountain College Battling Bears in overtime on Friday night in the finale of the 2016 Green and Gold Classic.
The Blue Hawks led Rocky Mountain College at halftime with a score of 39-23 and the Blue Hawks were outscored by the Bears in the second half with a 25-41 score to force the contest into overtime were the Blue Hawks outscored the Bears 7-2 to win with a final score of 71-66.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 23 total points. Junior Ryan Clark and senior Reggie Fields Jr. also scored 16 points for the Blue Hawks. Junior Ryan Clark led the Blue Hawks with 15 total rebounds. Marcus White also pulled down 11 total rebounds for the Blue Hawks. Senior Dontae Clark and junior Terrell Butler led the Blue Hawks with a total of 2 assists each for the game.
Rocky Mountain College was led by senior guard Riley Bradshaw with 18 points and 5 assists. Taylor Longo contributed 11 points and 7 assists for the Bears in the loss.
Dickinson State shot 39 percent from the field, 27 percent from three and 60 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 42 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks, 10 steals and 14 turnovers.
Rocky Mountain College shot 40 percent from the field, 44 percent from three and 81 percent from the free throw line. The Bears recorded a total of 39 rebounds, 4 blocks, 19 turnovers, 15 assists and 7 steals.
The Rocky Mountain College Battling Bears with the loss fall to record of 7-7 overall and 0-2 in Frontier Conference play.
The Blue Hawks are now 10-5 and 4-0 NSAA. The Blue Hawks next two games will be on the road as they ramp back up conference play in the new year as they travel to Iowa on Friday January 6th, 2017 to play NSAA opponent Waldorf University and Wisconsin on Saturday January 7th, 2017 to play NSAA opponent Viterbo University.
The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017 as they host non-conference opponent Trinity Bible College at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
