DICKINSON, ND– The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team soared to a 92-52 win over the Viterbo University V-Hawks on Friday night behind a great overall team effort from everyone on the Blue Hawks roster.
The Blue Hawks lead Viterbo University at halftime with a score of 43-26 and the Blue Hawks outscored the V-Hawks in the second half with a 49-26 score to win the contest with a final score of 92-52.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 21 total points. Senior Reggie Fields Jr. chipped in 19 points and junior Jerry Shevlin contributed 10 points. Senior Brandon Jamar lead the Blue Hawks with 8 total rebounds. Senior Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. grabbed an additional 6 rebounds for the Blue Hawks. Jerry Shevlin led the Blue Hawks with a total of 6 assists for the contest.
Viterbo University was led by seniors Erik Engelstad and Jake Bamke with 11 points each. Jake Bamke also led the V-Hawks in total rebounds with 7 for the contest.
Dickinson State University shot 57 percent from the field, 48 percent from three and 71 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 45 rebounds, 17 assists, 9 blocks, 3 steals and 11 turnovers.
Viterbo University shot 28 percent from the field, 27 percent from three and 62 percent from the free throw line. Viterbo University recorded a total of 32 rebounds, 12 turnovers, 9 assists and 6 steals.
The Viterbo University V-Hawks fall to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks are now 17-7 overall and 9-2 in NSAA play. The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Saturday, January 28th, 2017 as they host North Star Athletic Association opponent Mayville State University at 5:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
