OMAHA, NE – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team fought to a 83-78 non-conference win over the Grace University Royals behind a great overall team effort on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Grace University.
The Blue Hawks led Grace University at halftime with a score of 40-33 and the Blue Hawks were outscored by the Royals in the second half with a 43-45 score to win the contest with a final score of 83-78.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 21 total points. Senior Reggie Fields Jr. also scored in double digits for the Blue Hawks with 17 total points. Marcus White led the Blue Hawks with 8 total rebounds. Junior Jerry Shevlin led the Blue Hawks with a total of 4 assists for the game.
Grace University had four players score in double digits for the contest. They were led by sophomore guard D.J. Hanes 25 total points and 6 rebounds. Junior forward Galat Toang added 13 total points and 10 total rebounds for the Royals.
Dickinson State shot 47 percent from the field, 30 percent from three and 71 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 39 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 blocks, 10 steals and 13 turnovers.
Grace University shot 39 percent from the field, 20 percent from three and 78 percent from the free throw line. Grace University recorded a total of 44 rebounds, 14 turnovers, 4 blocks and 8 steals.
Grace University falls to 12-13 overall.
The Blue Hawks are now 19-8 overall and 10-3 in NSAA play. The Blue Hawks next contest will be on Friday, February 10th, 2017 as they go up against North Star Athletic Association opponent Dakota State University at 6:30p.m. (MDT) in Madison, South Dakota.
The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Friday, February 17th, 2017 as they host North Star Athletic Association rival Jamestown University at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
