MADISON, SD – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Men's Basketball team fell to Dakota State University on a last second shot by Dakota State University senior guard Tanner Heiser with .6 left to play on Friday night on the campus of Dakota State University.
The Blue Hawks trailed Dakota State at halftime with a score of 38-39 and the Blue Hawks tied with the Trojans in the second half with a 34-34 score to lose the contest with a final score of 72-73.
The Blue Hawks were led in the scoring department by junior Marcus White with 26 total points. Senior Gilberto Shojgreen Jr. also scored in double digits with 10 total points for the Blue Hawks. Marcus White led the Blue Hawks with 9 total rebounds. Senior Reggie Fields Jr. also pulled down 7 total rebounds for the Blue Hawks. There were five Blue Hawks with a total of 2 assists each for the game.
Dakota State University was led by senior guard Tanner Heiser with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Junior guard Brendon Boomsma also contributed 15 points, rebounds and 1 assist for the Trojans in the win.
Dickinson State shot 50 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 63 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Hawks recorded a total of 34 rebounds, 12 assists, 6 blocks, 8 steals and 14 turnovers.
Dakota State University shot 45 percent from the field, 43 percent from three and 75 percent from the free throw line. The Trojans recorded a total of 33 rebounds, 15 turnovers, 13 assists and 6 steals.
The Dakota State University Trojans with the win climb to record of 14-13 overall and 7-6 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks are now 19-9 overall and 10-4 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks next home contest will be on Friday, February 17th, 2017 as they host North Star Athletic Association rival Jamestown University at 7:30p.m. (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
