DICKINSON, N.D.- The men's basketball team returned to Scott Gymnasium after the weekend of road games in Utah. The Blue Hawks' opponent Yellowstone Christian College, took on the Blue Hawks earlier in the year. In the first matchup, the Blue Hawks came away with a 105-50 victory.
The Blue Hawks and Centurions both came out fast to begin the game. The teams went back and forth quickly, but the Blue Hawks quickly controlled the game. The Blue Hawks found continued success and high percentage shots with their big men. Marcus White tallied 15 points in the half, while Ryan Clark put up 14. The success from the field showed with the Blue Hawks shooting nearly 60%, inside the arch the Blue Hawks tallied 85%. The Blue Hawks success from the field was thanks to their distribution of the ball, 15 assists as a team.
The Blue Hawks' success also came on the defensive end and on the boards. The Centurions were out rebounded by the Blue Hawks 36-17. The Centurions with 9 turnovers and only shooting 22% from the field gave the Blue Hawks a 64-21 lead heading into halftime.
The Blue Hawks started the second half strong with a 23-1. From there the Blue Hawks cruised. A late spark from Dickinson native, Tanner Davidson, with 17 points finished things for the Blue Hawks. The Blue Hawks finished the matchup with a 136-51 victory.
The Blue Hawks had 6 players in double digits, White leading all scorers with 32 points. White when 13 for 14 from the field. Ryan Clark tallied a double-double in the game with 20 points and 14 rebounds. The Blue Hawks shot 61% from the field, 35% from beyond the arch. The Blue Hawks as a team tallied 35 assists in the victory.
A Look Ahead: The Blue Haws look ahead to their weekend games Friday at 7:30 against Valley City State University and Saturday at 5:00 against Waldorf University. The weekend series is the first set of games in the North Star Athletic Association.
