Morman, Grann lead All-Around in Great Plains after Spearfish

Another weekend of tough rodeo competition in Spearfish, S.D. for the annual Black Hills State University Yellow Jacket Stampede this past weekend. The men's team finished third with 560 points and the women's team placed fourth with 250 points.  Cameron Morman andBobbi Grann now lead the men's and women's All-Around standings in the Great Plains region.

Busting out of the gate to start things off in round one, Jordan Pelton took fourth in the bareback riding with a score of 61 points, earning 30 points for the team.

The breakaway was a tough first round with all top ten competitors roping in 4.0 seconds or less, Grann placed ninth with a 4.0 second run to make it back to the short round.

The tie down roping brought back two DSU ropers to the short round, first being Morman with a 10.8 second run, he earned 30 points for the team and placed fourth in the round.Cody Hilzendeger followed right behind with a time 11 flat, he earned 20 points for the team and took fifth place in this round.

In the classic event of saddle bronc riding Dalton Rixen took third place with a score of 65 points and earned 50 points for his team in this round.

In team roping the Dickinson team of Christina Jacobson and Evan Entze placed sixth with a time of 13.4 seconds.

Goat tying had a 10th and 11th place split Jordyn Schaefer jumped into the short round in the bottom hole with a time of 8.5 seconds. Grann took second in the round with a time of a 7.5, earning 50 points for DSU.

In steer wrestling Morman took eigth place with a time of 8.5 seconds.

Barrel racing was a tight race that brought back three DSU riders to the short round,Skye Schaper took fifth with a time of 14.23 seconds and earned 20 points for the team. With only one one-hundreth of a second slower, Victoria Netzer took sixth place and earned 10 points. Hecker also placed in round one and took eighth place with a time of 14.28 seconds.

The short round brought back Jordan Pelton in the bareback riding, he took second place in the round with a score of 70, earning 50 points and took second in the average.  In breakaway roping, Grann was second with a time of 3.4, she took third in the average, and she earned a total of 90 points.

In tie down roping, Morman roped in a time of 11.3, took sixth in the round and fifth in the average he earned a total of 60 points.  Rixen came back in the short round to win the round with a 71 point ride and took second in the average, earning a total of 160 points.

The team roping saw a broken barrier in the short round for Christina Jacobson andEvan Entze with a time of 27.6, still earning 10 points in the round and total points to 30. The DSU team took sixth in the round and average.

In goat tying Grann took sixth place in the round with a time of 8 flat splitting fouth and fifth place in the average. Bobbi earned a total of 85 points in the event. Jordyn Schaefer's goat run was a time of 7.8.  She took fifth, earning 20 points in the round, and five in the average. Schaefer split sixth in the average.

Morman won the short round in the steer wrestling with a time of 4.7, and took second in the average earning a total of 110 points. In barrel racing Hecker took third in the short round with a time of 13.94, she finished fourth in the average. Victoria Netzer placed sixth in the short round and the average with a time of 14.11, she earned a total of 30 points.

Dickinson State will be back in action on Friday (May 2) when they take part in the Bronco Roundup in Hastings, Neb.
