North Platte, NE – The DSU Rodeo Men's Team finished second with 590 points to the hometown winners, Mid-Plains Community College, who scored 635 points. The Men's Team, however, is still leading the standings with 1,030 points over second place Mid-Plains with 875 points.
Leading the charge for the Blue Hawks was bareback rider Tate Schwagler, who won both rounds and the average. After several re-rides, Schwagler scored a 78 in the long round. He was consistent in the short go scoring another 78.
Jordan Hunt also claimed the title in the saddle bronc riding. Hunt scored a 48 in the long round, placing him 2nd. In the short round, Hunt rode the horse for a 74 point ride, which propelled him to the lead in the average to take home the title. Lane Berg cover both his bulls to place second overall. He scored a 69 in the long round and a 52 in the short round.
Chance Glass of Hebron also had a respectable weekend in the timed-event competition. Glass placed second in all around after earning second place in the tie-down roping with a time of 22.7 on two head and seventh in the team roping. The team heads down the road to Iowa for a double header in Fort Dodge and Ames September 29-October 2, 2016.
