Blue Hawks Open Season with Impressive Showing at Black Hills

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Blue Hawks opened their season on Saturday (Jan. 17) at the Dave Little Alumni Mile. 

Amber Forbes finished third in the 200-metre dash, with a time of 27.68 seconds, and fourth in the 60-metre dash, with a time of 8.15 seconds. 

In the 600-metre dash, Stormie Sickler finished first (1:46.29), while Shayna Tonderum finished second (1:49.26).

Austyn Copp finished second in the 5000-metre run with a time of 19:48.01.  Margaret Martinez finished fifth with a time of 22:56.01.

 In the 4x400 metre relay Mardee Clark, Abby Honeyman, Sickler, and Paitton Herbst finished first with a team 4:20.38.

Megan Dailey finished first in the women's high jump with a height of 1.6 metres.  Alysse Charlesworth finished sixth with a height of 1.45 metres.  Clark finished eighth with a height of 1.4 metres.

In the 4x800 metre relay, the team of Tonderum, Paitton Herbst, Copp, and Sickler took first with a time of 10:25.64.

Charlesworth won the triple jump at 10.75 metres. 

Whitney Leuenberger finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 11.72 metres.

In the men's 60-metre dash, Breyan Miller took first with a time of 6.85 seconds.  Mason Frank finished fifth with a time of 7.24 seconds.

Adrian Fisher finished in the 200-metre dash with a time of 24.02 seconds.  Trai Pratt finished sixth with a time of 24.22.

In the 600-metre dash, Delano Lilly finished first with a time of 1:28.82.  Zelmon Knowles finished second with a time of 1:29.88.

In the 4x400 metre relay, the team of Lilly, Miller, Jonathan Aman, and Josh Reed finished second with a time of 3:37.84.

Josh Torerson finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.85 metres.

Reed finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.11 metres.  Zach Girard finished fifth with a distance of 6.10 metres.

Dickinson State will be back in action on January 31 at the Cobber Duals.
