DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Track & Field Coach Jace Schillinger is pleased to announce the singing of Beau Ackerman of Dawson County High School in Glendive, MT.
Beau will compete in the decathlon for the Hawks. He was a two-time All-Eastern A performer in the javelin for the Red Devils and also all-conference in the Triple Jump this past spring. He placed 7th at the State A Meet in the javelin where he has a career best 170’10” feet. Beau’s best marks in the Long Jump (19’1”), Triple Jump (40’3”) and Pole Vault (11’6”) will set him up for a solid career in the decathlon. Beau also competed on the Red Devils football team. Beau also comes from an athletic family where his father, Jason Ackerman, was a three-time All-American for the Blue Hawk wrestling team.
“Getting Beau here was a good get for us as he will compete right away in the conference in the decathlon. He has a number of the technical events covered which will allow him to focus more on his running events starting this fall. I think he will be an excellent decathlete when it’s all said and done. We have had success the last couple years getting good kids from Glendive. They come from a great program and are so well-coached,” said Coach Schillinger.
